Passing time on a rare two-day break

Editor's note: Purdue forward Laura Meadows, a 6-foot-3 fifth-year senior who transferred from Kentucky in 2000, will share a diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.

Hello. Since we did not have a game on Sunday and thus our normal weekend routine changed, there is not much basketball to report. However, please do not allow yourself to conclude that my teammates and I were idle with our two days off. On the contrary, several important tasks were completed.

Erika and Kelly, with the aid of a video from an infomercial, instructed several of the girls in mastering the intricate dance steps that accompany "Dirty Pop." This stellar song by the pop phenoms *N Sync has taken control of our locker room radio. Not only do we continue to be blessed with the incessant playing of this song, but also the non-dancers amongst us have the opportunity to maneuver through a tangled mass of flaying arms and spinning legs on our way to our cubbies. Not to offend Erika and Beth, but Kelly shows the most promise. Her tough exterior has cracked to reveal a very theatrical center.

Some of those who did not dance slept. Since Lindsey is my roommate, I'll cite her as an example. The kid slept an average of 14 hours a night, and managed to squeeze in naps of at least three hours each day. She'd crawl out of bed long enough to make some macaroni and cheese or cereal, and then return to her state of hibernation. Of all of us, I think she took the most care to follow the coaches' advice to rest. Anything for the team!

Since I cannot dance exceptionally well and frequently find myself in states of insomnia, I decided to clean. I dreamed of catching a flight to Montana or Colorado to absorb the scenery and ski, but decided that my knees are too old to endure the stress of the slopes and my mess of a closet was ruining the smallest chances I have of leading a normal and productive life. Besides, the several states separating me from somewhere not flat seemed too daunting.

Have a wonderful week. I'll talk to y'all in a few days. Bye.
