Editor's note: Purdue forward Laura Meadows, a 6-foot-3 fifth-year senior who transferred from Kentucky in 2000, will share a diary with ESPN.com throughout the season. Feb. 20, 2002 I'm not so smart sometimes. Absentmindedness often seizes my innocent brain as its hostage, and then I do ridiculous things like forget to write my diary. However, last week's events need to be shared, so I will attempt to make amends in the next few paragraphs.
If Kelly led our defense, Shereka Wright conducted the offense. She was a force on Sunday. The kid had 40 points, shot 71 percent, and set the single-game scoring record at Purdue. It was amazing to watch. Sunday was definitely a good day. We secured at least a tie of the Big Ten title, there was no turbulence on our flight home, our post-game sandwiches weren't soggy, and Kelsey Curry can now say all of our names. Or at least her own variation of them. Other than basketball, most everyone has been preoccupied with the whole school thing. Erika Valek and her biology book are now one being. Emily Heikes, AKA Kirby, has been seen in study tables muttering incoherently over her calculus book. Only Lindsey Hicks' photography class seems like much fun. I snatch her camera whenever I can and wander around our house in a deep and introspective mood seeking something worthwhile to shoot. I never do, but photographers seem to be pretty cool so I think I should at least try. OK, perhaps I should preoccupy myself with some school work. Have a good rest of the week. Bye.
