Three finals and one final road trip

Editor's note: Louisiana Tech's Brooke Lassiter, a senior guard and two-year co-captain, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.

Feb. 18, 2002

Hello everyone. It's great to be back again this week! We enjoyed being at home all last week and getting rested for our game against SMU on Saturday. The game went well and we continue to improve defensively with each game. The atmosphere was fun and coming away with a "W" is always a nice feeling!

Brooke Lassiter is a starting guard for Louisiana Tech.
We have our final conference road trip this week and it is very important for us. We can clinch the WAC title with a couple more victories and extend our winning streak as well. The three four-year seniors on the team, Bird, Takeisha, and myself, are looking to end our conference career without a loss. It's a pretty amazing feat when you think about it, and would truly be something special to be a part of.

My sister, Lindsey, stayed with me this weekend and it was great to laugh and have some quality "sister" time. She was able to hang out with some of my sweet friends and take in a little action in "Rus-Vegas." We definitely had a blast and wish we could see each other more often.

This weekend was quite busy for me and will carry over into the first part of this week. I was able to mix a little fun in along the way as always, though. Sunday morning was a treat for me because I had the opportunity to meet Major Applewhite, University of Texas quarterback, for breakfast and join him and our FCA directors for the morning service. I'm a huge fan of college football and was excited to meet Major and see who he really is and what he stands for on and off the field. He is a great ambassador for college athletics and I wish him the best in the future.

Because the quarter is winding down and will end on Monday, I have elected to take all three of my finals before we leave for our road trip on Wednesday. Some might find this silly, but I will definitely be relaxed and refreshed when I get back and am through with everything. I yearn for that feeling today because I have a full day ahead of me! These next two days will be quite stressful, but I feel like I have prepared myself well and will do just fine. Let's just hope that happens on test day! I must go turn in my last couple of assignments and hit the books.

I have a special birthday wish for some special, little friends, Lilla and Whitney. Happy birthday, girls!

Hope you all have a wonderful week. I'll have more exciting "road stories" next time, so be prepared! I'm feeling another bus fiasco in the midst.

Brooke
