We said Connecticut, Georgia and Tennessee were locks for No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. And for the most part, you users agreed. But when we asked you to tell us which team would grab the final top seed, well, things didn't seem so black and white. While most of the 200 or so responses preferred Louisiana Tech, Penn State and Notre Dame fans also made cases for their teams. Selected responses are listed below. Thanks to everyone for your input. And oh, we'll all find out what's really going on when Selection Sunday rolls around on March 12.

It would be nice to see Notre Dame rewarded with a No. 1 seed, but two more "probable" losses to UConn (Saturday and perhaps in the Big East Final) will surely make the Irish a No. 2 at best. The only other two teams that could get the other No. 1 are Penn State and Louisiana Tech, teams that have already been absolutely embarrassed by UConn this year. My point ... who cares who the fourth No. 1 seed is, who cares who the fourth team to make it to Philly will be? This is a 3 team race. Doug Richmond, Va.
La. Tech gets a lot of love

La. Tech should be it. The Lady Techsters should be ranked No.2 right now. The only reason they are behind Tennessee (Tech blew out the Lady Vols in Knoxville) is because Tennessee got to play UConn twice. I would like to see what Tech would do if it played UConn a second time, especially considering the first game was the worst game played all year by the Techsters. They keep on winning but losing respect. We already know we could blow out Notre Dame and Penn State. They have never been close to beating Tech in the past and never will be in the future.

I choose La. Tech. It is said that reputation is not a factor in determining seeding, and while that may be true, NOT having a reputation can have an effect. I just don't see the committee allowing Penn St. to take a No. 1 seed without having something to back it up, and Penn State's losses speak louder than any of its wins. As for Notre Dame, the Irish may be the fourth-best team, but two late losses to UConn coming up are going to knock them down.

La. Tech should receive the other top seed. Often overlooked. Always a contender. If Notre Dame pulls an upset over UConn on Saturday, La. Tech could lose it's No. 1 seed. That should not be. Tech is well deserving. The Techsters beat Tennessee at Tennessee (soundly), beat Purdue (more than soundly), beat then-No. 3 UCLA (more than soundly). Their two losses have come to UConn and a early-season two-point loss at Mississippi State. That is a loss to a No. 1 and another top 20 team. Neither Penn State nor Notre Dame can say that they have that record. In fact, Georgia does not have that record and Tennessee has lost to all of the other top 4 teams.

Props for Penn State

I think Penn State will get the final no. 1 seed, assuming the Lady Lions don't lose more than one game before Selection Sunday. They have the best RPI and play in a tough conference which is well known and draws lots of fans. If Penn State doesn't get it, Notre Dame should. La. Tech's RPI is too weak for the final No. 1 seed.

I believe that Penn State should get the fourth top seed. The Lady Lions have three losses -- one to UConn (an unbelievable team), one to Duke (another great team), and one to Michigan State (no one could go through the Big 10 without a blemish). In their wins, the Lady Lions have shown complete domination. In their recent win against Indiana, they played a sloppy but close first half, but their D showed up and allowed only 13 points in the second half! That is unheard of! They have the best point guard in the country in Helen Darling as well as an All-American candidate in center Andrea Garner. The Lady Lions have a very short roster, but every player on the team steps up when needed. You never know who will do it. Chrissy Falcone can burn you from the perimeter, but if you double her, Barnes or Walseth will kill you inside -- and sometimes kill you when you double them. There is no weak link in the lineup! They can run with anyone, maybe better than anyone. They are one of the fastest teams in the nation. You can bet that no matter what seed they get, they will be singing "Philly" come March Madness time. Christopher L. Sweitzer York, Pa.
Look out for the Lady Lions!!! I think Penn State will receive the fourth No. 1 seed. They have a very complete team and get tremendous support from the bench. Darling and Garner maybe the best point guard/center combination in Division I. They don't rely on one player because when one is out of rhythm, there is always another one who steps up. I would look for them to go deep into the tourney.

Can't say no to Notre Dame

I'd have to give it to Notre Dame for the following reasons:

Notre Dame. I am in no way a Notre Dame fan, but I saw the Irish play a very good Marquette team in early January, and I was very impressed. The perimeter players have a balanced mix of quickness with the ability to penetrate, plus solid shooting and passing from the outside. Down low, Ruth Riley can simply dominate. Marquette is known for its two awesome inside players (Willenborg and Oldenburg) and for their sinking match-up zone defense, but Riley finished her moves inside better than any other 6-5 female I've seen in a long time, and she was a formidable presence on the defensive end. So, Notre Dame is my pick. I'm sick of La. Tech anyway.

Notre Dame has earned, thus far, the fourth No. 1 seed. The Irish are playing some of the best basketball in the nation and doing what they need to do to win games. Their only losses of the year have been against two ranked teams on the road, defending national champions Purdue and Illinois. Notre Dame's final regular-season game at UConn and then the Big East tournament will be the test. If they can at least split the two games against UConn at UConn, then they definitely should be the other No. 1.

I think Duke will steamroll its way to the ACC tournament championship. Hopefully Virginia will lose down the stretch and Duke will take the regular-season title, too. This momentum, without Peppi Browne, will show the committee what it wants to see, and it will give Duke the final No. 1 seed. Look for LaNedra Brown to play a large role in the postseason. Virginia! The Cavs have beaten all these goods teams (N.C. State, Duke, etc.) and I think that people will (should at least) finally give them credit for their incredible skills.

Coach Marsha Sharp has proven year in and year out that her team can compete with the best the nation has to offer. At the beginning of this season, Big 12 officials picked Texas Tech to finish fourth after losing several key players last season. But once again, Texas Tech is the top-ranked team in a conference which has four teams ranked in the top 20. Watch for them to finish strong!
