COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Amber Tarr scored 21 points and Plenette Pierson added 20 and 12 rebounds as No. 9 Texas Tech used a big second half to post an 85-78 victory over Big 12 Conference rival Texas A&M, 85-78.

Trailing 38-36 at the half, the Lady Raiders (13-2, 4-0 Big 12) smothered the Aggies (11-4, 1-3) early in the second half en route to their fourth straight win.

Pierson opened the second-half scoring with a jumper to tie the contest, sparking a 13-2 run that Tarr capped with a 3-pointer, making it 49-40 with 17:03 to play. Tarr made 7-of-13 shots and half of her eight 3-point attempts.

Pierson was 8-of-16 from the floor and helped Texas Tech to a 46-34 rebounding advantage.

The Aggies did make a run late in the second half, closing to four points on three separate occasions in the final three minutes. But Jia Perkins scored five of her 11 points in the last two minutes as the Lady Raiders held on for their fourth straight conference victory.

Katrisa O'Neal and Tanisha Ellison scored 10 points apiece for Texas Tech, which shot 64 percent (18-of-29) after intermission and 52.5 percent (32-of-61) overall.

Jaynetta Saunders scored 34 points for Texas A&M, which shot 42.5 percent (31-of-73) and forced 20 turnovers.
