MIAMI (Ticker) -- Swin Cash had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Svetlana Abrosimova added 16 and 10 as top-ranked Connecticut began Big East Conference play with a 77-53 rout of Miami. Cash and Abrosimova combined to shoot 14-of-24 as Connecticut (5-0, 1-0 Big East) defeated Miami for the 14th straight time. Center Asjha Jones contributed 12 points and eight boards as Connecticut's starting frontcourt outscored Miami's, 48-14. The Huskies, who lost only once in winning their second national championship last season, also outscored Miami in the paint, 42-28. Connecticut, which has not lost a Big East game since a 78-66 defeat at Boston College on January 23, 1999, raced out to a 24-6 lead when Abrosimova made a jumper with 11:15 left in the first half. The Huskies shot 47 percent (17-of-36) in the first half and took a 43-23 lead into the locker room. Chanivia Broussard scored 15 points off the bench for Miami (2-2, 0-1), which has not defeated Connecticut since February 14, 1993. Meghan Saake, Alicia Hartlaub and Camilla Osth -- Miami's starting frontline -- made just 7-of-21 shots.
