CHICAGO (AP) -- Shaquala Williams tied her career high with 31 points Wednesday night as Oregon (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) survived a late scare and beat DePaul 86-82. The Ducks led 65-41 with 12 minutes left, but DePaul's late run cut the lead to 83-78 with 28 seconds remaining. Oregon made enough free throws to hold off the Blue Demons, who pressed the Ducks most of the game. Oregon (8-2) trailed by five early, but Williams' seven points keyed a 12-0 run to give the Ducks a 33-21 lead with just over seven minutes left in the half. "If we take off the press, we trade baskets with them and that gets us nowhere," DePaul coach Doug Bruno said. "Our press is designed to not allow those type of baskets, yet we did." Consistently breaking DePaul's full-court press, Williams freed herself for six first-half breakaway layups. The Blue Demons (5-4) were also sloppy on offense, committing 12 turnovers before the break, as Oregon found itself up 50-33 at halftime. "We were up 20 and they were still pressing," Williams said. "We were able to break it and get a lot of easy shots." Angelina Wolvert added 21 for Oregon, which had seven points at the start of the second half before DePaul could answer, extending their lead to 57-36. Lenae Williams, who had a career-high 37 points, converted seven points after three Ducks turnovers, getting DePaul within 81-73 with 1:26 left. Jamie Lewis then made a layup and was fouled with 28 seconds left to get DePaul within five. But Williams, Lindsey Dion and Jenny Mowe made free throws to preserve the win. "The last eight minutes or so, we got complacent," Shaquala Williams said. Lenae Williams' 3-pointer at the buzzer provided the game's final score. | ALSO SEE Womens College Basketball Scoreboard
