NORFOLK, Virginia (Ticker) -- Hamchetou Maiga scored a career-high 17 points and Alli Spence had career highs of 14 points and 10 assists as 19th-ranked Old Dominion routed Vermont, 86-59. Lucienne Berthieu led the Lady Monarchs (7-1) with 19 points, including six during a game-opening 14-5 run. Berthieu converted consecutive layups to cap the spurt and Old Dominion mantained at least a seven-point advantage the rest of the way as it won its fifth straight game since falling to No. 1 Connecticut. Vermont (8-2), which had its five-game winning streak halted, committed 35 turnovers. Sharron Francis scored 13 points and Natalie Diaz added 12 for the Lady Monarchs, who led 43-29 at halftime after shooting 55 percent (17-of-31) in the opening 20 minutes. They finished at 49 percent (33-of-67) from the floor. Karalyn Church netted 18 points and Dawn Cressman contributed 10 with eight rebounds for Vermont, which held a 36-30 advantage on the boards could not overcome its numerous miscues. Cressman committed eight turnovers and three teammates had four apiece.
