RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Louisiana Tech coach Leon Barmore wanted to see what some of his reserves could do. They sure delivered.

Ayana Walker scored 21 points, Louisiana Tech forced 38 turnovers and its bench was overwhelming Thursday night as the fourth-ranked Lady Techsters beat Texas-Arlington 80-31.

Substitutes contributed 32 points and 27 rebounds for Louisiana Tech (3-1), which had a 47-25 rebounding advantage. Reserve Takeisha Lewis had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Techsters.

"I played some of our younger players quite a bit. I am trying to build confidence in all of them," Barmore said. "If you are out on the floor, you had better produce or you won't be out there long. I feel very comfortable with my bench."

Louisiana Tech held a 39-12 halftime lead over Texas-Arlington (3-2), then made 53 percent of its field goals (17-of-32) in the second half to finish off the Lady Mavericks.

Leah Echiverri had nine points and Jalila Darez added eight to lead Texas-Arlington.

"Our defense was good, especially on our rotation and blocking shots," said Barmore, whose team finished with blocked nine shots. "I felt really sorry for UTA because they have so many injuries. They were definitely shorthanded."
