BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Sarah Hicks scored 17 points and Tere Williams added 12 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday night as Virginia Tech (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll , No. 25 AP) defeated Appalachian State 75-55. The Hokies (3-2) shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half to run up a 38-25 lead by intermission and were never threatened thereafter. Virginia Tech scored 18 points off the fast break, while Appalachian State had none. Tech also outscored Appalachian State 33-19 on turnovers. Kim Seaver contributed 12 points for Tech on 6-for-9 shooting and Amy Wetzel added 10. Appalachian State (1-3), which shot only 38 percent from the floor for the game, was led by Noel Dolan with 11 points.
