Last-second free throw saves N.C. State

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) -- Tynesha Lewis made a free throw with five seconds left as No. 7 North Carolina State beat Kansas State 73-72 in the Cancun Tournament of Basketball.

Morgan Finneran hit a 3-pointer for Kansas State (1-2) to tie it at 72 with seven seconds left.

Lewis led N.C. State (5-0) with 16 points -- 14 in the second half. Summer Erb added 15, and Kaayla Chones had 15 points and nine rebounds. Olga Firsova led Kansas State with 15 points, Nicky Ramage added 13, and Finneran and Kim Woodlee had 12 each.

The Wolfpack took a 72-63 lead with 2:13 left on Erb's jumper, but Ramage had a layup and Woodlee made a jumper to draw the Wildcats within three.

Kansas State shot 61 percent in the first half en route to a 35-27 lead.
