"I think it is very difficult to spot a team that good that kind of a lead and then come back and play catchup," Illinois coach Theresa Grentz said.

Santa Barbara lost to Illinois 69-65 in the second round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament.

"This was a game we have been looking forward to for a lot of reasons," Santa Barbara coach Mark French said. "Our sophomores remember how disappointed they were when they lost to a great Illinois team two years ago."
