AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Tasha Hamilton scored 15 points and LeCoe Willingham added 12 and 10 rebounds as No. 11 Auburn used a big first half to pull away from Jacksonville State and opened the season with a 93-54 victory. Hamilton hit 6-of-8 shots from the floor and 2-of-2 from the line. The Tigers (1-0) opened the game with a 9-0 run and held Jacksonville State without a field goal until the 13:10 mark of the first half. Auburn took a commanding 46-20 lead into halftime. Willingham also hit 6-of-8 shot attempts for Auburn, who shot 52 percent (35-of-68) from the floor and forced 26 turnovers. The Tigers collected 19 steals in the contest, including five from freshman LaRita Spencer, who contributed 15 points in the victory. Heather Mayes led Jacksonville State (0-1) with 16 points and Lisa Baswell added 13, including 12 in the second half. The Lady Gamecocks shot 40 percent (19-of-47) from the floor and went 11-of-19 from the line.
