McDonald scored 22 points on 11-of-14 shooting and Georgia (No. 5 ESPN/USA Today; No. 3 AP) beat Boston College (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today; No. 20 AP) 78-70 Sunday in the preseason NIT semifinals.

"I thought McDonald played well on both ends of the floor," Georgia coach coach Andy Landers said of his center, who also had five rebounds and two blocks.

"I thought she was a very good helper defensively and she shot the ball well."

Georgia (3-0) will face Santa Barbara (3-0), which beat Illinois 71-61 in Sunday's first semifinal, in Monday's finals at Assembly Hall.

Boston College (2-1) took a 67-66 lead on Brianne Stepherson's free throw with 3:12 to go.

But Kelly Miller's jumper 19 seconds later gave the Bulldogs the lead for good as they outscored BC 12-3 in the closing minutes.

"I thought we made some key plays when we needed to defensively. That led to some easier and quick offense," Landers said.

Coco Miller scored 17 points and Deana Nolan 13 for Georgia.

"We thought it was a super game until the last two or three minutes," Boston College coach Cathy Inglese said. "It comes down to the fact that we missed a few easy shots in the end."

Boston College got 14 points apiece from Becky Gottstein and Jamie Cournoyer. The Eagles were hurt by their own poor free throw shooting, making just 7-of-17.

"We're normally a team where I can close my eyes on the bench and know that they're going to go in," Inglese said. "But tonight for us to shoot 7-for-17. I can't remember the last time we shot so poorly in a game."
