BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Tamicha Jackson buried a 3-pointer with one second left as No. 3 Louisiana Tech wasted a 22-point lead but pulled out its fifth straight Sun Belt Conference tournament title with a 97-94 win over Western Kentucky. Louisiana Tech won its 18th straight game and figures to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in either the Midwest or West Region. It was the school's sixth Sun Belt Conference title and fifth at Western Kentucky's expense. Anaya Walker's layup with 66 seconds left in the first half gave the Lady Techsters (28-2) a seemingly insurmountable 52-30 cushion. Betty Lennox finished the half with 14 points as Louisiana Tech led, 54-33. The Hilltoppers climbed back and used a 13-3 run to pull even, 84-84, with 5:07 left. Jamie Britt's layup capped the run, in which she scored six points. After Shatika Hutcherson missed a jumper for Western Kentucky (21-9) with 49 seconds left, the Lady Techsters got the ball with the score tied, 94-94. Jackson missed a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left, but buried her second attempt. Despite shooting 73 percent (19-of-26) from the floor and hitting 18-of-20 free throws in the second half, the Hilltoppers' six-game winning streak was halted. They dropped all three meetings with the Lady Techsters this season. Lennox finished with 25 points, Jackson added 21 and 10 assists and Walker 17 points and 16 rebounds for Louisiana Tech, which shot 62 percent (24-of-39) in the first half. Britt poured in 23 points to lead five players in double figures for Western Kentucky. Jaime Walz added 22 points and 10 assists and ShaRae Mansfield scored 19 points.
