Texas Tech holds off Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Katrisa O'Neal and Plenette Pierson scored 14 points each as Texas Tech (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 15 AP) held off Kansas State 51-47 Tuesday night.

Kansas State erased a 14-point deficit in the second half and tied Texas Tech (14-2, 3-2 Big 12) on a 3-pointer by Kim Woodlee. But Aleah Johnson scored to put the Raiders back in front for good.

Kansas State (9-9, 2-3) committed 10 turnovers in the first half and trailed 27-19 at halftime. The Wildcats cut their deficit to three in the first five minutes of the second half as Nicky Ramage scored six points.

Kristin Rethman made a 3 midway in the first half to give the Wildcats a 10-5 lead before Texas Tech went on an 18-1 run to take control.

Rethman scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats and Ramage had 13 before fouling out.

Pierson had a game-high nine rebounds and Johnson added 12 points for Texas Tech.
