What's new
Jones Stadium is undergoing significant renovations which will affect gameday traffic around the stadium. Construction will be intermittently taking place inside and outside the stadium which will give it an awkward look this season, but will create an enjoyable atmosphere in years to come.
Battling it out
Protecting the backside of QB Kliff Kingsbury is essential to the success of the Red Raiders, and the left tackle spot might still be up-for-grabs. Paul Erickson started last year but was in and out of the lineup with a recurring shoulder injury. Casey Keck filled in for Erickson some last year as a freshman and played very well in the spring while Erickson sat out following shoulder surgery. Erickson is still listed as the starter, but Keck could give him a run if he's not 100% recovered.
Eye catcher: CB Eric Cooper
After playing mainly on special teams last season, Cooper caught the attention of the coaches this spring with his performance at cornerback. He is on the verge of earning a starting job after a pair of INT returns for touchdown in the Spring Game, including a 98-yarder.
Budding star: SS Kevin Curtis
Curtis burst onto the scene with 153 tackles as a sophomore and earned All-Big 12 honors last season. He is an extremely versatile athlete who might also return kicks this season. He is a big hitter who has six interceptions in his career and is the leader of the Tech defense.
