Derek Anderson threw for 354 yards and four scores as Oregon State won the 106th "Civil War". This battle for state bragging rights is the most-played rivalry west of the Mississippi, and the home team has now won the last six meetings. Oregon still holds a 53-43-10 lead in the series.

The Tigers came in a 10 1/2-point underdog, but held 'Bama scoreless on three fourth-quarter trips to Auburn territory. The Tide is still winless in Tuscaloosa, having been outscored 91-7 in four Iron Bowls played there.

Clemson rallied to win the 100th meeting over archrival South Carolina, the Tigers fifth victory over the Gamecocks in six years. It was a bitter ending for coach Lou Holtz and South Carolina (5-7), which lost its final five games after looking like a lock for a third straight bowl game a few weeks ago.

The Game has often seen the unexpected happen. Not this year, as Harvard won the 119th edition with a strong second half. The Game's outcome, however, was up in the air until junior Benny Butler intercepted a pass with 20 seconds remaining. Yale still lead the series, 64-46-8.

Joe McCourt is the latest hero in the longest running rivalry in NCAA football. His 3-yard touchdown run with 5:53 left in the fourth quarter broke a 7-7 tie in the 138th meeting between the two schools. Lafayette now leads the all-time series, 72-61-5. The two Pennsylvania schools have played each other every year since 1897, the longest uninterrupted series in Division I.

Neither team finished the season .500, but with the victory, Utah won the Beehive Boot, which is awarded to the Utah team with the best record in in-state games. It was the 79th meeting between the rivals since 1922. Utah leads the series 46-28-4, though BYU had won three straight in Salt Lake City.
