Last week the stage belonged to a certain senior at Florida State. This week, with Peter Warrick and the Seminoles idle, Ron Dayne stepped into the spotlight. The Wisconsin tailback played just two quarters but finished with 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
He wasn't the only candidate to start the season with a bang. Louisville quarterback Chris Redman stretched out the offseason kinks with a 300-yard passing performance that included five touchdowns. Marshall's Chad Pennington (333 yards, 4 TDs) had a typically huge day as well.
