Ohio State

The Buckeyes, like the Longhorns, put a fence around their state and managed to keep just about every top prospect home. The key recruits are Mike D'Andrea, Justin Zwick, Maurice Clarett and Quinn Pitcock.

Michigan

The Wolverines did a great job in the state, landing 11 of the top 16 players. They also got the QB they wanted in Matt Gutierrez and managed to steal one of Notre Dame's top three prospects, LB Jeremy Van Alstyne.

Penn State

The Nittany Lions took their time and did things right by not taking early commitments from lesser players. Their late commitments are what make this year's class special, led by RB/ATH J.R. Zwierzynski, LB Chris Wilson, RB Tim Shaw, DL Tamba Hali, DL Levi Brown, OL Mark Farris, OL Brian Borgoyn, and WR Josh Hannum.

Illinois
|
The Illini used their Sugar Bowl appearance and Big Ten title to make in-roads in Indiana, landing potential All-American TE Mel Bryant, OL J.J. Simmons, and DL Andrew Burke. The big sleepers in this class are DBs Jason Davis and Darnell Ray, both of St. Louis.

Wisconsin
|
The Badgers finished strong, taking away WR Brandon White and DB Levonne Rowan from Iowa, while also doing an excellent job in Illinois, Minnesota, and in the East.
