Passed for 465 yards and gained 499 total yards -- both school records -- as Colorado outslugged San Jose State 63-35.

Upper Iowa
Tied a Division III record by returning two kickoffs for touchdowns in Upper Iowa's 68-13 defeat of Cornell, Iowa.
Eric Crouch
Nebraska
Became the first Nebraska player since Johnny Rodgers in 1973 to run, throw and catch a pass for a TD in the Huskers' 45-0 win over California. Crouch was 2-for-2 passing for 102 yards and a TD, had nine carries for 21 yards and two scores and caught one pass for a 60-yard touchdown.

Western Kentucky
In just his second collegiate game, the freshman safety returned two punts for touchdowns and brought an interception back 23 yards for another score in Western Kentucky's 55-7 win over Cumberland. His punt returns covered 49 and 52 yards, and his interception return came on Cumberland's first play after his second return.

Filling in for the injured Ricky Williams, Easterling gained 114 yards and scored twice in the Red Raiders' 38-17 win over Louisiana-Lafayette.
BUZZER-BEATERS  
Rebels run wild UNLV, which last week snapped a 16-game losing streak, got an improbable gift Saturday night when Kevin Thomas returned a fumble 99 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the game to lift UNLV to a 27-24 victory over Baylor.
Un-luck of the Irish For the second game in a row, Notre Dame came up short at the end of the game. With less than 15 seconds left, Jarious Jackson was sacked on third-and-goal from the one-yard line. The Irish couldn't regroup in time to run another play and lost to Purdue 28-23.
STREAKING  
Illini have a winning streak Kurt Kittner passed for 230 yards and three touchdowns as Illinois defeated San Diego State 38-10, giving the Illini consecutive victories for the first time in three years.
RECORD-SETTERS  
Spartans buffaloed Colorado's 767 yards against San Jose State eclipsed the school-record 758 yards Colorado generated against Northeast Louisiana in 1995.
On winning street Clemson's Brandon Streeter passed for a school-record 343 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-14 upset over No. 19 Virginia, the Tigers' first win against a ranked team since beating North Carolina State on Sept. 13, 1997.

South Carolina coach Lou Holtz "Nobody wants to lose. We came down here to win. I've got to coach harder," after his Gamecocks lost to No. 12 Georgia 24-9.
