Schedule loaded with great games

A few of the best games to watch on the march to Tempe for the Fiesta Bowl.

Saturday, Aug. 31
Tyrone Willingham
Tyrone Willingham has ND 7-0 and ranked third in the BCS standings.
Maryland vs. Notre Dame: Is Maryland legit? Does Ty have ND back on the right track? Stay tuned.

Colorado vs. Colorado State: Quietly turning into one of the best rivalry games around.

Washington at Michigan: Michigan's desire for payback after last year's loss to U-Dub just another reason to watch this early season clash between two Top 10 teams.

Saturday, Sept. 7
Alabama at Oklahoma: Ah, the sweet smell of tradition. Two of the most storied programs in history clashing. How great is that?

Miami at Florida: Rivalry renews after 14 years and will be as intense as ever. Winner takes first step toward Tempe. Another subplot: QBs Dorsey vs. Grossman for Heisman favorite role.

Purdue at Notre Dame: Welcome home, Ty.

Thursday, Sept. 12
Marshall at Virginia Tech: Marshall aims to prove its legit and Leftwich can boost his Heisman campaign with a big win in Blacksburg.

Saturday, Sept. 14
Nebraska at Penn State: Ah, the sweet smell of tradition, take two.

Washington State at Ohio State: Big expectations for both team. So, it's put up or shut up time.

Texas at North Carolina: Tar Heel fans are counting the seconds until they can, um, welcome Mack back to Chapel Hill.

Saturday, Sept. 21
Florida at Tennessee: Losing to Miami? Well, that might be forgotten. Lose to Tennessee and Gator fans may never forgive Ron Zook.

Thursday, Sept. 26
Florida State at Louisville: Rix vs. Ragone in prime time.

Saturday, Sept. 28
Duke at Navy: The Dookies best chance for a win this season and possibly their only hope of not breaking Northwestern's record of 34-straight losses.

Saturday, Oct. 5
Florida at Ole Miss: Rex Grossman. Eli Manning. 'Nuff said.

Stanford at Notre Dame: Ty's old team visits Ty's new team.

Texas Tech at Texas A&M: Media Guide Bowl I as "classless clowns" visit A&M.

Saturday, Oct. 12
Chris Simms
Chris Simms is 0-1 as a starter against Oklahoma.
Oklahoma vs. Texas: Winner can start pricing fares to Tempe.

Florida State at Miami: Winner can start pricing fares to Tempe.

Tennessee at Georgia: Winner can start pricing fares to Atlanta.

LSU at Florida: If Tigers want to be title contender, it needs to finally beat Florida.

Saturday, Oct. 26
Alabama at Tennessee: A win over the Vols would make not going to a bowl game bearable for the Crimson Tide.

Notre Dame at FSU: Sexy matchup that may be mismatch, but is still a must-see.

Saturday, Nov. 2
Colorado at Oklahoma: Great rushing attack vs. great defense = great game.

Florida at Georgia: World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party means even more this season with Georgia's resurgence.

Michigan State at Michigan: The Spartans could be 8-0 heading into Ann Arbor. A win there and the Spartans could be smelling roses.

Texas at Nebraska: Last stumbling block before Tempe for Texas?

Saturday, Nov. 9
Miami at Tennessee: Just imagine if both are undefeated heading into this game. Think Rocky Top nation will be pumped?

Oregon at Washington State: For the Pac-10 title?

Saturday, Nov. 16
North Carolina at Florida State: FSU has been waiting for this game since last season's 41-9 humiliation.

Washington at Oregon: For the Pac-10 title?

Saturday, Nov 23
Auburn at Alabama: The Iron Bowl takes on special meaning this year for Tide with no postseason. Auburn seeking payback for last year.

Florida State at NC State: Amato and Wolfpack seem to know just how to frustrate the 'Noles, but FSU seeking revenge for last year's home loss.

Michigan at Ohio State: Winner smelling roses?

Michigan State at Penn State: Winner smelling roses?

Oregon at Oregon State: Nothing civil about this war.

Washington at Washington State: Most important game in Apple Cup series since, well, last year.

Friday, Nov. 29
Colorado at Nebraska: Remember Buffs 62, Huskers 36? Nebraska does.

Saturday, Nov. 30

Florida at Florida State: Spurrier gone, but hatred between these two teams remains.

Saturday, Dec. 7
Army vs. Navy: Winner gets bragging rights. We get the security of knowing these guys at Army and Navy have our backs. That's a pretty good feeling.

Virginia Tech at Miami: Winner heads to the BCS, and possibly the national title game.

SEC Championship game: Winner heads to the BCS, and possibly the national title game.

Big 12 Championship game: Winner heads to the BCS, and possibly the national title game.
