Auburn WR Ronney Daniels to enter NFL draft

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Auburn's Ronney Daniels became the third wide receiver and fourth player to forego his college eligibility and enter the NFL draft on Saturday.

Daniels led run-oriented Auburn in receiving as a sophomore this past season, catching 41 passes for 476 yards and four touchdowns.

"Two days ago, I was sitting down with my mom," Daniels said. "I thought about it and decided I was ready for the next level. At Auburn, I feel like I accomplished a lot of things. I had a great time and feel like it's time to move on."

In his final college game, a 31-28 loss to Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, Daniels had seven catches for 98 yards and one touchdown.

Other receivers to leave school early are Koren Robinson of North Carolina State and UCLA's Freddie Mitchell. Nebraska center Dominic Raiola also has declared for the draft.

Underclassmen have until January 12 to make declare for April's draft.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported on Saturday that Wisconsin running back Michael Bennett, the nation's third leading rusher, would skip his senior season to enter the draft.
