Guillon played in two games last season

Associated Press

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Miami quarterback Marc Guillon has decided to transfer after failing to move up the depth chart, coach Larry Coker said Wednesday.

Guillon played in two games last season but wasn't a factor in the race to replace Ken Dorsey this spring.

He entered fall practice behind Florida transfer Brock Berlin and two-year backup Derrick Crudup, and then recently fell behind freshman Kyle Wright, one of the nation's top recruits.

"We're certainly disappointed to be losing Marc Guillon,'' Coker said in a statement.

Guillon was 3-of-5 passing for 53 yards with one touchdown last season. He was awarded a medical redshirt because of a shoulder injury and has three years of eligibility remaining.

"It's just a situation that didn't work out for me,'' Guillon said.

The third-ranked Hurricanes open the season Aug. 28 against Louisiana Tech.
