Leavitt agrees to five-year deal

ESPN.com news services

University of South Florida coach Jim Leavitt agreed to a new contract to remain with the Bulls, ESPN Radio first reported Wednesday night.

Leavitt's new five-year deal was announced at a Thursday news conference. Terms of the new contract were not disclosed.

Leavitt's deal comes two days after he interviewed for the vacant University of Alabama football job with athletic director Mal Moore in Clearwater, Fla.

On Wednesday, Leavitt met with USF president Judy Genshaft and athletic director Lee Roy Selmon about the new contract.
