Harvard's strong second half wins The Game

Associated Press

BOSTON -- Ryan Fitzpatrick ran for two touchdowns and Carl Morris made four catches for 106 yards as Harvard staged a second-half comeback to beat Yale 20-13 in the 119th meeting of the teams on Saturday.

The Crimson (7-3, 6-1 Ivy League) scored three touchdowns in a 6:43 span of the third quarter to wipe out a 6-0 Yale halftime lead.

Robert Carr had 24 carries for 75 yards including a 3-yard dash at 6:24 of the second quarter to give Yale (6-4, 4-3 Ivy League) a 6-0 lead.

Harvard's first touchdown was set up when Yale punter Ryan Allen failed to handle the snap at his own 36-yard line on the team's first possession of the second half.

Bobby Everett and Sean Tracy combined to tackle Allen at the 35, and six plays later, Fitzpatrick dashed four yards into the end zone and Anders Blewett kicked the extra point for a 7-6 Harvard lead.

On Harvard's next possession, Fitzpatrick completed a 50-yard pass to Morris, then scored his second touchdown two plays later on an 8-yard run for a 13-6 lead.

Nick Palazzo, who ran for 95 yards, boosted the Harvard lead to 20-6 with 4:19 left in the third quarter on a 1-yard dive.

Jeff Mroz, 14-for-31 for 134 yards, got Yale back into the game with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Ron Benigno with 7:08 remaining that made it 20-13.
