GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida officials removed a fan from the first day of spring football practice after he refused to stand to watch the Gators.

New coach Ron Zook instituted a rule requiring all coaches, players and spectators to stand throughout all practice sessions.

After practice, Zook said he was unaware the spectator was thrown out, but he reiterated the policy.

"It's a place of work," Zook said. "I think the players appreciate it. Those are the rules. If they want to sit down, then they should come to practice when we are in The Swamp."
