Metters, a 6-foot, 185-pound junior safety from Mansfield, Texas, was injured on a 57-yard scoring pass from Kevin Feterik to Margin Hooks with 10:18 remaining.

Metters and Wes Glisson converged on Hooks as the ball arrived, and the collision put both Air Force players on the ground. Hooks kept his balance and outraced three other defenders to the end zone.

After the play, Metters lay on the turf 12 minutes as trainers from both teams attended.

Air Force officials said Metters had a bloody nose but, after regaining consciousness, was able to move his arms and legs. He was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for a precautionary neurological examination.

Officials later said tests showed no brain damage and Metters returned to the Air Force Academy in Colorado with the team.
