Goodrich charged with disorderly conduct

Associated Press

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee cornerback Dwayne Goodrich was charged with disorderly conduct after police say he threatened officers who asked him to leave a convenience store near campus.

Goodrich was arrested at 2:20 a.m. Sunday at Rocky Top Market. He was released from the Knox County Detention Center at 8:45 a.m. after posting bond several hours later.

A police report said Goodrich was intoxicated and, when asked to leave the store, became loud and threatened to hurt officers.

Coach Phillip Fulmer told The Tennessean he was aware of the arrest, but had no comment. In the past, Fulmer has suspended players for disorderly conduct.

Goodrich, 21, a senior co-captain and regarded as one of the country's better defensive backs, intercepted a pass Saturday in Tennessee's 17-16 victory over Memphis.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder from Oak Lawn, Ill., returned an interception for a touchdown in the Vols' 23-16 Fiesta Bowl victory over Florida State that gave them the national title last season.

Goodrich started all 13 games last year and led the secondary with 10 pass breakups.
