The score came 4:11 after Bruce Branch returnd a punt 90 yards for a Penn State TD. Casey, who was on the field for all five of Penn State's offensive scores. Backup QB Adam Helm directed Kansas State 62 yards on 11 plays, finishing the drive with a one-yard dive to go up 35-28. After facing a 28-7 halftime deficit, it was the largest comeback in Bill Snyder's 11 years as head caoch. Kansas State's defense. The Trojans had earlier lost a chance to take the lead in their half of the overtime when David Newbury missed a 37-yarder. Ducks kickers Fankel and Nathan Villegas. Frankel won the game, and Villegas forced the overtime with a 26-yarder in the final minute of regulation. Unfortunately, he injured his knee during the celebration that followed.
