| Lee Corso and the rest of the Gameday crew can't get to every campus this season, so ESPN.com has given fans another option: It's called "Lee-mail." Lee has an opinion on just about anything related to college football. So, go ahead and ask him a question. He'll give his thoughts on the subject.
Here are this week's questions Corso picked to answer before he found his way to Ann Arbor, Mich.:
How long will take Kirk Ferentz to turn things around at Iowa? Jim Bohy, Indianola, Iowa It's going to be very difficult to follow a legend like Hayden Fry. It will take at least three years for Ferentz to get his own players in, then two more years to get the program to mold into his program. A five year plan should do it. And I'm afraid to say, if he doesn't do it in five years, the Hawkeyes will get someone else.
Michelle Steinke, Ann Arbor, Mich. Drew Henson could go down as the greatest quarterback in the history of Michigan football. He showed what kind of player he is in the fourth quarter against Illinois. Henson will lead the Wolverines to the Rose Bowl. With Western Michigan beating Toledo, and Marshall not looking as strong this year, are the Broncos the favorite in the MAC? Will the MAC get two bowl bids? Brett Koenemann, Kalamazoo, Mich. The big game will be Western Michigan at Marshall next Thursday night. If they can beat Marshall at Huntington, then they are absolutely the cream of the crop. The MAC has a chance to get two bowl bids, if they don't beat each other up. It's like the Pac-10, there are so many good football teams, they keep hurting each other's chances. Do you think Pittsburgh has a chance of contending in the Big East? Jason Giran, Conneaut Lake, Pa. Absolutely. I picked Pittsburgh over Penn State in my upset special last week. The Panthers are throwing the ball effectively, and they are definitely a contender in the Big East. With all his success at TCU do you believe Coach Dennis Franchione will leave for a big time program? M.J. Moore, Amarillo, Texas Yes, I think Coach Franchione will leave for a major program and a million dollar contract. TCU doesn't have the facilities or the money to keep him. What do you have against the Arkansas Razorbacks? Kara Bushkuhl, Fort Smith, Ark. I have nothing against the Razorbacks. In fact, they are one of my favorite teams because they play so hard for Houston Nutt. I did NOT think they could beat Alabama, because I thought Bama was going to have a tremendous win to finally get rolling. Although they had a controversial fourth down play (a call that went against Bama), the Razorbacks won the game and you've got to give them credit for that. Philip Rivers has almost the exact same numbers as Drew Brees, but he isn't even mentioned as a Heisman candidate. Why? Brendon McCall, Barnesville, Ga. Because he's a freshman. Let's see him put up those kinds of numbers over a period of years. The Heisman is often a career award. Chris Weinke, Michael Vick, Eric Crouch and Drew Brees have all had a more than one great year. Last week you said Mississippi was "definitely a Top Ten team." So how good is South Carolina? Brett Bostic, Rock Hill, S.C. With the victory over a good Mississippi State team, South Carolina has proved they can win the tough games at home. The challenge for Lou Holtz and the Gamecocks is how they play on the road. UCLA was undefeated at home, then they went to Oregon and lost. The key to winning in major programs is how you play on the road. What is wrong with Florida's defense? Stan McKee, Athens, Tenn. There is nothing wrong with Florida's defense. Sometimes they lack execution. They'll make ten great plays, then give up one bad one. That inconsistency will be eliminated by the time they play Florida State. Remember, the Florida defense stopped Tennessee and got the ball back for Florida's offense to win that game. Does the Colorado have any shot whatsoever of beating Kansas State this Saturday? Jason Weiseman, Washington, DC They have a shot because the game is in Boulder. This is Kansas State's big test; they haven't really played anybody yet. If everything goes true to form, Kansas State should win this game, and their special teams will be the difference. I'm a South Carolina fan and I find it hard to believe there is a louder environment than a packed Williams-Brice stadium. What crowd in college football do you think is the noisiest? Rich Taylor, Nashville, Tenn. As a crowd: Tennessee. They have the biggest numbers, and with the addition of the suites, it's like being inside a coliseum for the visiting team. Noise per person: Oregon. The Ducks fans are the loudest individuals in the country. What are your thoughts on the direction of Husky football and their bowl game destination this year? Tyler Addington, Bellevue, Wash. The Huskies will go to the Rose Bowl. They'll lose this weekend in Oregon, because you have to be a much better team than the Ducks to win at Autzen Stadium. Why hasn't Ken Simonton from Oregon State been recognized as a legitimate Heisman candidate? Aaron, Portland, Ore. Two reasons: One -- There are other guys playing a lot better than Ken Simonton. And two, Oregon State plays west coast games and it's tough for a running back to get a lot of stats in those games, plus they don't get on TV. But location is the lesser of the reasons. It's mostly because guys like Anthony Thomas and LaDainian Tomlinson are having a better years. If any back is going to get Heisman consideration, it's going to be Thomas or Tomlinson. Do you think Penn State's troubles will make Joe Paterno consider resigning before he reaches Bear Bryant's record? Mike Birnbaum, Boston, Mass.
