NEW YORK -- Miami's Brett Romberg won the Dave Rimington Trophy on Friday as the nation's top center.

The 6-foot-3, 297-pound senior finished ahead of Notre Dame's Jeff Faine and Iowa's Bruce Nelson. Romberg goes for a second consecutive national title when the top-ranked Hurricanes play Ohio State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3.

Last year, Romberg was a finalist for the award, which was won by Ohio State's LeCharles Bentley. Nebraska's Dominic Railoa won in 2000, the trophy's inaugural year.
