Michigan wide receiver David Terrell said he's still undecided about his plans for next season and reports of him leaving school early are not accurate.
| | David Terrell, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, is the second-leading receiver in Michigan history. |
Terrell was quoted by the Richmond Times-Dispatch recently as saying that he had decided to forego his final year of eligibility at Michigan to enter the NFL draft.
"To be honest with you, I don't know where that started," Terrell told the Detroit News on Wednesday.
"I heard my uncle made some statements, but the statements weren't from me. I'm just here trying to make these seniors go out with a (victory). They have a chance to be four-time bowl champions, and that's what I'm here to do."
Michigan plays Auburn next Monday in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
According to the Times-Dispatch, Terrell agreed to answer questions that were faxed to his uncle, Bruce Terrell.
The Detroit Free Press quoted two sources close to the junior confirming Terrell's decision.
Terrell told the Free Press on Wednesday that he did not answer the questions and said the report came from his uncle, not him. Bruce Terrell could not be reached for comment.
"We're not focused on me going to the NFL right now," Terrell told the Free Press. "We're focused on winning our fourth bowl game in a row. I don't really like the fact that it came out like that."
Terrell said he will discuss his situation with coach Lloyd Carr after the season and then make an announcement.
According to ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper, Jr., Terrell is the "No. 1-rated junior wide receiver in the country." Terrell caught 63 passes for 994 yards this season.
