IT WAS OVER WHEN
Marshall kicker J.R. Jenkins kicked a 25-yard field goal with 43 seconds to push the lead to 11. The way the Marshall defense was playing in the second half, the Bearcats weren't going to score twice.
GAME BALL GOES TO...
It would be easy to give it to QB Byron Leftwich, who earned Motor City Bowl MVP honors, but we go with coach Bob Pruett. Critics were quick to call for the end of the Marshall run after a slow start, but he kept the team focused, playing hard and won its fourth MAC title and third straight Motor City Bowl. Let's face it, the guy's pretty darn good.

Byron Leftwich
Leftwich was 17-of-30 for 221 yards and a TD. He also ran one in.

After a slow start, many had written the Thundering Herd off. Big mistake. Marshall rallied to win its fourth straight MAC title and behind MVP Byron Leftwich, who had two TDs, Marshall won its third consecutive Motor City Bowl with a 25-14 victory over Cincinnati.

"It goes to show you that a team that plays as well as Marshall does, it doesn't matter how bad their record is, or how bad others think it is, the big games are what counts and we can win the big ones!!!"
