SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) _ Jay Rodgers threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns as Southwest Missouri State beat Indiana State 31-14 Saturday in the Gateway Conference. Rodgers had TD tosses of 19 yards to Brad St. Louis and 6 yards to Tacoma Fontaine in the second quarter as Southwest Missouri State (5-6, 2-4 Gateway) built a 17-0 halftime lead. Rodgers ran 3 yards for a score and threw a 5-yard scoring pass to St. Louis in the third quarter. Each team scored on its first two possessions of the second half. Sycamores quarterback Sheraton Fox ran 40 yards to make it 17-7, but Southwest Missouri State answered with Rodgers' run. Indiana State (3-8, 2-4) drove back for Jared Sessum's 2-yard scoring run, but the Bears answered again as Rodgers connected with St. Louis. Chance Thurman led all receivers with eight catches for 128 yards. Rodgers set the team's single-season marks for total offense (2,768 yards) and passing yards (2,741).
