WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) _ Quarterback Lou Simone completed 15 of 22 passes for a career-high 293 yards and three first-half touchdowns as Wagner College defeated Monmouth University 35-3 on Saturday.

The Seahawks (5-4, 5-2 Northeast Conference) built a 28-0 lead by halftime. Simone threw a 4-yard pass for a touchdown in the first quarter and Chuck Kinsley scored twice on passes of 24 and 79 yards in the second quarter. Rick Sarille ran for a short score in the quarter as well.

The Hawks (2-7, 2-4) missed two early opportunities as Andrew Whitman's poor punt gave Monmouth the ball on Wagner's 29-yard line. Quarterback Chris Wielgosz hit Chad Smith with a 23-yard pass but the offense stalled, forcing a 32-yard field goal attempt by Chris Mandell. He missed another 43-yard attempt on the Hawk's next possession.

In the third quarter, Mandell finally hit a 32-yard field goal, slightly narrowing the scoring gap to 28-3. Sarille answered five minutes later with a 1-yard touchdown.
