NEW YORK (AP) _ Steve Kalberer threw four touchdown passes, the longest for 80 yards to James Morton, as St. John's defeated Canisius 45-0, the fourth shutout of the season for the Red Storm.

Kalberer connected on 12 of 17 passes for 250 yards for St. John's (5-3). The Red Storm leads NCAA Division I-AA in defense and limited the Griffins (1-8) to 80 yards and four first downs.

St. John's had 497 yards in total offense. Elliott Holtz, who carried 14 times for 115 yards, scored touchdowns on runs of 1 and 32 yards.

Kalberer opened the game's scoring with a 29-yard strike to Dan Wheeler at 12:16 of the first quarter and threw his other three in the second period, connecting for 51 yards to Peter Dileo, 80 yards to Morton and 5 yards to Terry Buckley.
