  RECAP | BOX SCORE

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) _ Arkansas State University's game plan against Boise State went down the drain quickly.

Twice, the Broncos (7-3, 3-1 Big West) had one-play touchdown drives on their way to a 35-3 halftime lead over the Indians (3-7, 2-3). The final was 63-10 at Boise.

ASU coach Joe Hollis said the Broncos' quick scores shouldn't have kept the Indians from competing the way they should have competed.

``We came out here on a mission to compete, but we got behind early and it got worse,'' he said. ``It's very disappointing.''

The Broncos were in front 7-0 when Damien Schilling returned a punt 59 yards to the ASU 5. Three seconds later, Gavin Reed made it 14-0. It was the first of three touchdowns by Reed.

Nick Gatto's 41-yard field goal _ ASU's only points of the first half _ cut the lead to 14-3.

Bart Hendricks, who completed 15-of-23 for 205 yards, ran 35 yards for a touchdown that made it 21-3. Less than two minutes later, Cleo Lemon fumbled and Ross Farris scooped it up. Farris returned it 27 yards to the 2 and Reed scored on the first play.

Reed scored again from the 2 in the final minute of the second half.

Hendricks threw touchdown passes of 1 and 27 yards to Dave Stachelski and Lou Fanucchi, respectively, early in the second half.

Hendricks ran for 114 yards, the first time a Boise State quarterback topped 100 yards rushing since 1996.

``He had decent speed but we had containment problems,'' said ASU linebacker Michael Bailey.

ASU made just 164 yards.

Lemon started at quarterback, but completed just 5-of-23 for 80 yards. He did throw a 12-yard pass to J.J. Washington early in the second quarter to pass James Hamilton (1968-71) as ASU's all-time leader in passing yards. Lemon has thrown for 5,461 yards.

The Indians' only touchdown was Lemon's 33-yard to Washington late in the third quarter to make it 49-10.

Backup Andy Shatley completed 4-of-7 for 50 yards.
