LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) _ Troy Albea rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Appalachian State, ranked sixth in Division I-AA, beat Virginia Military 34-7.

The Mountaineers (7-2, 6-1 Southern Conference) scored touchdowns on four straight first-half possessions to build a 28-0 halftime lead. The only touchdown for VMI (1-9, 0-7) came on a 20-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Quesuan Wigfall during the third quarter.

Appalachian State, which beat previously top-ranked Georgia Southern earlier 17-16, threw just eight passes but dominated the Keydets with 323 rushing yards. Quarterback David Reaves was 5-for-5 for 55 yards. He threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Wilcox with 1:47 remaining before halftime.

Karim Razzak and Neil Cornatzer also scored on short runs for the Mountaineers in the first half.

The Mountaineers' only second-half touchdown came on a 61-yard run by Albea with 4:29 remaining.

Stillman Clark led VMI with 148 rushing yards. Clark also completed three of seven passes for 22 yards.
