COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- It didn't take Texas A&M long to get rid of its red face.

Randy McCown, playing despite a separated shoulder to his non-throwing arm, threw touchdown passes of 11 and 14 yards to Matt Bumgardner as Texas A&M (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) beat Oklahoma State 21-3 on Saturday.

Matt Bumgardner and Texas A&M had plenty to celebrate in coasting past Oklahoma State on Saturday.
One week after an embarrassing 51-6 loss to Oklahoma, the Aggies (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) won the 600th game in school history, the 17th Division I-A school to reach the milestone.

Oklahoma State (3-4, 1-3) lost its fourth straight to the Aggies.

"I knew we could come back," McCown said. "To be able to play the way we did means so much to me. Everybody showed so much heart and gave so much. I spoke to the seniors today and we came out and showed everybody who we are."

The victory also gave coach R.C. Slocum his 100th career coaching victory.

"The team went to work last week and it showed the way we played today," Slocum said. "It's fitting to get the 100th victory at a time when we really needed a victory."

McCown hit Bumgardner with an 11-yard TD pass for a 7-0 halftime lead and used key passes to drive the Aggies to a 1-yard touchdown run by Tiki Hardeman with 2:29 left in the third quarter.

McCown found Bumgardner again with 8:59 left in the game.

"We're not used to what happened to us last week," Bumgardner said. "I think the team responded well today. It was good to get things back on track and get a win today."

McCown separated his left shoulder in last week's game but went the entire way against the Cowboys. He was 20-of-29 for 242 yards.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Lindsay returned last week after missing four games with a knee injury. He led Oklahoma State to an early lead over Kansas State but suffered a shoulder injury and didn't play against the Aggies.

"He could throw the short route but not the long one," Cowboys coach Bob Simmons said. "We made the decision to try to win the ball game and that's why we played B.J. Tiger.

"B.J. handled the game plan and we didn't scale back our offense any because he was in the ball game."

McCown completed passes of 21 yards to Leroy Hodge and 28 yards to Eric Bernard that put the Aggies in position for the only score of the first half.

Oklahoma State's only points came on a 36-yard field goal by Tim Sydnes with 14:14 left. He missed two other attempts.

Sydnes missed a 43-yard attempt on the Cowboys' first drive. A 59-yard run by Tiger set up Sydnes for a 38-yard attempt in the third quarter but the kick was wide right.

Tiger completed 15-of-21 for 154 yards.

"I found out right before the game that Tony was hurt," Tiger said. "I practiced hard like I was going to start just like I do every week. I was prepared but I just didn't get the job done. We have to fight harder when we get into the red zone."
