BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) _ Derrick Moore and Chris Bryan rushed for 108 yards each and combined for three touchdowns as Elon defeated Charleston Southern 38-13 on Saturday.

After a scoreless first quarter, Moore scored two touchdowns to give Elon (7-2) a 14-0 lead at the 11:45 mark of the second quarter.

Charleston Southern (2-6) cut the lead to 14-3 on a 47-yard field goal by Clint Kelly.

But Derrick Moore hit DeWayne Thomas with a 16-yard scoring pass as the Fighting Christians extended their lead to 21-3 at the half.

Charleston Southern's lone touchdown came in the third quarter when T.J Mawhinney recovered a fumble and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown, cutting Elon's lead to 21-13.

But less than a minute later, Bryan rumbled 55 yards for a touchdown that extended the lead to 28-13.

Elon finished with 354 yards rushing for the game, compared to only 87 for Charleston Southern.

Jeff McCool completed 8 of 27 passes for 148 yards with one interception for Charleston Southern.
