RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Thomas Jones set an Atlantic Coast Conference record with his fourth 200-yard game, gaining 221 yards and scoring three TDs as Virginia beat North Carolina State 47-26 Saturday.

Jones' 200-yard mark broke a record held by four players. He also set the Virginia record for career rushing touchdowns with 32, topping the mark held by Tiki Barber. His 35 touchdowns overall has tied Barber and Frank Quayle for most career touchdowns by a modern-day Cavalier.

The Cavaliers (4-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) snapped a two-game losing streak and beat N.C. State (4-3, 1-3 ACC) in Raleigh for the first time in four games.

Virginia parlayed three N.C. State turnovers into 30 points in the third quarter. A Rahshon Spikes fumble led to Jones' 1-yard run with 8:25 left in the period. Yubrenal Isabelle caught a deflected pass for an interception to set up Jones' 6-yard dash for a score one minute later.

After N.C. State was stopped, Dan Ellis hit Billy McMullen for an 11-yard score with 3:59 left in the quarter. The final turnover, a Jamie Barnette fumble, led to Ellis' 12-yard scoring pass to Ahmad Hawkins with 1:37 left for a 40-19 edge.

Barnette scrambled for a 4-yard touchdown with 14:55 to play for N.C. State. But Jones then ended his day with a 3-yard touchdown run with 2:36 left.

Jones beat the Wolfpack defense for 103 yards in the first half, but the Cavaliers had relatively little to show for his work. He gained 39 of his yards on Virginia's first possession, but the Cavaliers didn't even cross midfield.

Jones did gain 21 yards on Virginia's second possession to set up Ellis' 34-yard scoring pass to McMullen at 6:47, but the Wolfpack retaliated with a 77-yard drive capped by Spikes' 8-yard scoring run 2 1/2 minutes later.

Todd Braverman's 26-yard field goal put Virginia on top early in the second quarter before the Wolfpack offense got hot, regaining the lead on Barnette's 16-yard touchdown pass to Tremayne Simmons, the first scoring catch of his career.

Lloyd Harrison's interception at the Virginia 21 set the stage for a 79-yard march ending on Barnette's 49-yard scoring play to Bryan Peterson with 50 seconds left before the half.
