LORETTO, Pa. (AP) _Chris Wielgosz threw two touchdown passes, while teammates Chad Smith and Mike Trombetta each rushed for more than 100 yards to lead Monmouth, N.J. to a 20-9 victory over St. Francis, Pa. on Saturday.

Wielgosz completed 14 of 27 passes for 172 yards. He connected with Bryan Peck on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 5:38 left in the second quarter, then found Bill Hagan on a 46-yard scoring strike with 5:23 left in the game.

Monmouth (1-5, 1-2 in the Northeast Conference) accumulated 408 yards in total offense, including 236 on the ground. Smith led the Hawks with 112 yards on 23 carries, while Trombetta gained 106 yards on 10 carries.

Chris Mandell opened the scoring for Monmouth, kicking a 20-yard field goal with 10:11 left in the second quarter. He also kicked a 24-yard field goal with one second left in the first half.

St. Francis (1-6, 1-3) scored on a 30-yard field goal by Jason Galiote in the second quarter and on a 5-yard pass from Jeremy Swords to Matt Smochek in the fourth quarter.

Swords completed 22 of 49 passes for 162 yards, but was intercepted once and sacked three times. Smochek caught 6 passes for 51 yards.
