CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Booker Peake scored on a 65-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game and Vinson Blain rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead Charleston Southern to a 39-17 victory over Austin Peay State.

Peake, who finished with 111 yards rushing, set the tone for the first half when the Buccaneers (2-4) piled up more than 250 yards of offense and took a 24-10 halftime lead.

Blain's first touchdown, an 11-yard run to cap a six play, 69-yard drive, gave the Buccaneers a 14-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

Austin Peay (2-5), which got a 1-yard touchdown run from Rory Gibbs in the first half, pulled to within 24-17 in the second half. Dedric Moffett scored on a 2-yard pass from Brian Baker (17-of-35 for 98 yards) in the third quarter and Dustin Anderson kicked a 27-yard field goal early in the fourth.

But the Buccaneers put the game away with Blain's second touchdown of the day midway through the fourth quarter and Lyndon Porter's 1-yard scoring run with less than three minutes to play.

Gibbs led the Governors with 120 yards rushing on 24 carries.

Charleston Southern's defense sacked Baker three times and limited Austin Peay to 220 yards of total offense.
