PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) _ Ron Johnson rushed for 212 yards on 23 carries Saturday, scoring two touchdowns to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 35-21 victory over Southwest Athletic Conference rival Alabama State.

Michad Holiday also scored twice for the Golden Lions (3-3, 3-2 SWAC).

Alabama State (1-6, 1-4) was held to 128 yards rushing.

UAPB jumped out to a 14-0 lead on Johnson's scoring run from 36 yards out in the opening period and a 10-yard run for a TD by D.D. Shepherd on the opening play of the second quarter.

Alabama State's Larry Bias scored on a 1-yard run with 6:35 left before intermission, to narrow the margin to 14-7 at the half.

Johnson and Holiday each scored in the third quarter to put the Golden Lions up 28-7.

The visitors managed two TDs in the final period, but Holiday also scored for UAPB.
