HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) _ Chris Chaloupka passed for 324 yards and five touchdowns as Sam Houston State defeated Jacksonville State 51-17 on Saturday.

Chaloupka's three second-half touchdown passes _ two to receiver Larry Nixon _ pushed the Bearkats (3-2, 1-0 Southland Conference) from a 17-10 halftime lead to a 28-point advantage.

The Bearkats' senior quarterback, a transfer from Oklahoma State, tied the school record for touchdown throws he set earlier this season against Texas A&M Kingsville.

Sam Houston State won depite a strong performance from Jacksonville State quarterback Reggie Stancil, who rushed 17 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 203 yards.

The Gamecocks (1-4, 0-2) generated 365 yards of offense, 312 by Stancil, but gave up 489 yards to Sam Houston State.
