PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Alternate quarterback Devin Scott led Temple on three consecutive touchdown drives as the Owls gained their first win of the year with a 24-14 upset Saturday of previously-unbeaten Boston College.

Scott, who did not start the game and normally alternates at quarterback with Mac Devito, didn't leave the lineup after leading Temple (1-5, 1-1 Big East) on a scoring drive with less than a minute left in the first half. Down 14-0, his 27-yard pass to Greg Muckerson to the 1-yard line with 11 seconds left in the half set up Marcus Godfrey's one-yard scoring plunge two plays later.

Temple then scored on its next two drives in the third quarter, Scott hitting Carlos Johnson for the game-tying touchdown from nine yards out before his TD throw to Jason McKie from four yards out with 5:13 left in the quarter gave Temple a 21-14 lead.

After allowing Boston College (4-1, 1-1) to jump out to a 14-0 lead five seconds into the second quarter on Ryan Burch's 3-yard scoring catch from Tim Hasselback, the Owls' defense held the Eagles to 119 yards in the second half.

Temple stopped a last-ditch rally after cornerback Kevin Harvey intercepted a tipped Boston College pass with 2:22 left in the game. The win was Temple's first at home since November 1, 1997, when the Owls defeated Rutgers, 49-7. This victory also allowed the Owls to avoid going 0-6 for the second consecutive season.
