LOGAN, Utah (AP) _ Senior running back Demario Brown ran for 225 yards and scored twice Saturday to lead Utah State to a 20-14 over Arkansas State.

Brown, who went over the 100-yard mark for the seventh time in his last eight games, scored on a 51-yard run in the first quarter for Utah State (2-3, 1-0 Big West). He carried the ball 40 times Saturday and went over the 3,000-yard mark for his career.

Arkansas State (1-5, 0-1) intercepted a pass by Jeff Crosbie pass with 2:24 remaining, but were unable to advance the ball and gave it up on downs with just over a minute remaining. Utah State then ran out the clock on four straight runs by Brown and Crosbie.

Arkansas State scored on the first play of the fourth quarter on a short pass from Cleo Lemon to Robert Kilow to make it 17-14. But Utah State soon countered with a 40-yard field goal by Brad Bohn.

Emmett White of Utah State came into the game ranked fourth in the nation in punt returns, but fumbled away his first attempt and the Indians scored on a 2-yard run by Jonathan Adams six plays later.
