BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ Troy Williams threw for two touchdowns and Ryan Lewis and Al'trev Joubert ran for two more Saturday as Southern University beat Alabama A&M, 29-12. The victory by Southern (5-0), which is ranked No. 6 in Division I-AA, avenge a 33-27 upset a year ago by Alabama A&M (3-3). Williams completed 19 of 28 attempts for 230 yards. His 40-yard touchdown pass to Haywood Gallien early in the second period enabled Southern to erase a 6-3 lead by Alabama A&M. The Jaguars never again trailed. A 71-yard touchdown run by Lewis midway through the second period expanded Southern's lead to 16-6 and Joubert's 15-yard touchdown run early in the third period gave the Jaguars a 22-6 advantage. After Alabama A&M closed to within 22-12 on Kelly Fields' short touchdown run early in the fourth period, Williams threw 54 yards to Michael Hayes with 24 seconds left in the game to close the scoring. Lewis finished with 144 yards on 15 carries to anchor a Southern rushing attack that ground out 209 yards and Alabama A&M's Travis Nunn led the Bulldogs with 116 yards on 22 carries.
