DURHAM, N.H.(AP) _ Ryan Day threw for two touchdowns and ran for one and Dan Curran rushed for two as New Hampshire held off Stephen F. Austin 38-28 Saturday.

Day, who was 15 of 20 for 172 yards, threw 16 yards to Dan Kreider and 5 yards to MJ DePalma for the Wildcats first two scores and Curran ran 2 yards for another and a 21-3 halftime lead.

Curran's 20-yard run made it 28-6 in the third quarter for the Wildcats (2-3).

After KaRon Coleman's scoring runs of 5 and 2 yards pulled Stephen F. Austin (2-2) within 28-21, Peter Carbonara's 32-yard field goal gave New Hampshire some breathing room and Day clinched it with a 1-yard scoring run with 10:07 left.

Wes Pate, who completed 20 of 35 passes for 300 yards, pulled Stephen F. Austin within 10 on a 4-yard run with 9:09 left, but he threw interceptions to Wade Rowcliffe and Jody Trunfio in the final minutes.

Ted Woodard kicked two field goals for Stephen F. Austin.

Coleman ran for 147 yards on 20 carries and caught six passes for 122 yards. Kreider gained 105 yards on 22 carries and Curran 101 on 13 carries before he left with a sprained ankle.
